FANB to conduct military exercises against threats of armed intervention

The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, called on the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) for Saturday May 21, to conduct military exercises against any international interventionist scenario.
This announcement was made in relation to the recent statements by the former President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, who called for the intervention of a foreign army in Venezuela.
“On Saturday May 21 we must prepare to defend the land, to defend our children”, he said, while qualifying Uribe as “a coward” , “He is a funder, a political tutor of the murderer of Ramo Verde (*) and the paramilitary criminal groups that go around out there (…). I ask the Public Prosecutor for us to activate all actions to prosecute him”.
In this regard, the Head of State referred to the video where this political leader (Uribe) threatens the country, and stressed that it has been one of the worst things that ever an authority, a former President in Colombia or America, has ever said about Venezuela.
He also thanked the FANB for the support to defend the country’s sovereignty and made an acknowledgement to the communiqué issued in rejection of this new interference, “It is a very clear and strong statement”.
