Venezuela’s ambassador to Cuba Ali Rodriguez Araque, said on Monday night that Venezuela faces a strategy of double sign that seeks to isolate it from all over America and the rest of the world.
During an interview with multistate-owned TV station Telesur, the ambassador explained that has been undertaken against the country an entire media-driven national and international communication campaign, “a powerful tool for cultural deformation”.
He highlighted the Government Management of Nicolas Maduro for bringing Venezuela to where he has led it and that social problems have not “collapsed the country.” And he took the opportunity to remember how in times of Chavez when he started the revolution, the country received an oil income of up to $140 a barrel, while with Maduro oil fell to $26 a barrel.

“We cannot deny that there is a level of poverty, but today a poor man from Venezuela does not compare to a poor man from Colombia, a poor from any country of our America”, he said.
The Ambassador of Venezuela in Cuba during the interview conducted by journalist Ernesto Villegas, also referred to international events and the task that Venezuela has to preserve Latin American union and to counter the imperialist offensive that has already gained ground in Brazil and Argentina.
“We must persevere in the urgent task of the unity. To the extent that time passes and these processes are being slowed, is also slowed the solution of many problems that we can and we must solve together. ”
He recalled that when Hugo Chavez took power in Venezuela “he turned the key” to open a more outspoken relationship between the South American nation and Cuba “that went from the simple business relationship, simple diplomatic relations, to become a powerful factor of a South American and Caribbean model of integration”, with the signing of agreements in many areas.
“This revolution either is continental, or it will always be confined to the enormous limitations on the scope of each of the countries, no matter how great they are”, he said.
He noted that Latin America began an era that changed the face of the continent and emerged an entire democratic and unity wave. But with this change of face in the region, it was impossible that there was not a reaction against it, and for imperialism to stay with its arms crossed.
As the ambassador said, then was launched an entire continental counteroffensive to thwart this unity. This is materialized, for example, in the coming to power of Mauricio Macri in Argentina, or the removal of Dilma Rousseff in Brazil. For the diplomat there is no coincidence that in the takeover of Macri, in his first speech he attacked Venezuela.
“We are in a global confrontation between the South and the North, because while the South holds the natural resources, the North has the concentration of capital. But unlike the South, the North is vertically integrated on a global scale. The South is just moderately integrated with many difficulties, specially cultural, because we still have the culture of a small territorial portion, not of the great Latin American and Caribbean homeland”, he said.
