Venezuela congratulates the people of Brazil after elections

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated the Brazilian people for holding the second round of elections in which was elected as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, to whom he exhorted to resume diplomatic relations with respect.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan Government and the people, extends his sincere congratulations to the People of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on the occasion of the civic celebration of the second round of elections on Sunday 28 October 2018, in which candidate Jair Bolsonaro was elected as President of this South American country.

The Bolivarian Government takes this opportunity to urge the new president-elect of Brazil to resume, as neighboring countries, the path of diplomatic relations of respect, harmony, progress and regional integration, for the well-being of our peoples.

The Venezuelan People and Government, within the framework of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, ratify their commitment to continue working hand in hand with the Brazilian people, in the struggle for a more just, multi-centre and pluri-polar world, in which prevails the free self-determination of peoples and non-interference in internal affairs.
