Venezuela and Colombia agreed on creation of border card


Venezuela and Colombia agreed on Thursday on the creation of a border certificate to regularize the rights and duties of citizens of both countries transiting through the area.
This was reported by the Foreign Ministers of these countries after a meeting held in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.
According to the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, the preliminary actions include the evaluation of the rules of the border in order to build a new legality; the creation of the border ID card and new regulations for the sale of Venezuelan fuel on the Colombian side.
She also informed that they have asked the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL) for a study on border trade and have formed working groups to evaluate the recommendations to be issued by this body.
He also announced a meeting next Tuesday between the military and police forces of Colombia and Venezuela, to attack international criminal organization, smuggling, drug trafficking and other illicit activities “that made out of the border a site spilled of illegality”.
He stressed that the aim of these measures is “to make the border secure, adjusted to peace”.
For his part, the Colombian Foreign Minister, Maria Angela Holguin, described as fruitful the journey of binational work, in which were discussed points “for the safe opening (of the border), that gives citizens the confidence on that it will be a positive place and to abandon this criminality that has plagued us for so long. ”
She noted that there will be a meeting between Presidents Juan Manuel Santos and Nicolas Maduro, who will inform about the date and other actions for the opening of the border zone.
The meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez; and Colombia, Maria Angela Holguin, ended this Thursday after discussing common issues such as border security.
President Maduro also met with Colombian Foreign Minister to continue to address the issue; He described the journey as successful.
