Saab: With the amnesty act the peace and stability of the country are at stake

The draft of an Amnesty Act that the rightwing bench of of the Parliament pretends to approve, “puts at stake the peace of more than 30 million Venezuelans and foreign residents (as well as) the stability and judicial system in the country”.
This was stated by the Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab, in the “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente Today) program, broadcast this Sunday. “These are issues that we have to study, that deserve to review the history”.
He noted that the lawyers who structured the draft of the Amnesty Act hurt the Venezuelan society because, would this legal instrument be approved, it would benefit common criminals and politicians who are imprisoned due to committing criminal acts.
“It seems they emptied all the items of the Venezuelan Penal Code, and gradually went basting that Amnesty Act to benefit these people.”
The Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab, stressed that it can not be allowed for impunity to prevail in the country through laws that violate the human rights of citizens.
