President visits Moscow for special meeting with Putin

President Nicolás Maduro visits his counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow this Wednesday, May 7, to sign a strategic partnership agreement.

This information was also confirmed by presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov, who indicated that the President will visit the Russian capital for activities to be held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, also known as «Victory Day.»

Other leaders of international nations are also expected to arrive, including Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will meet with Putin on Friday, May 9.

Regarding the meeting with the Venezuelan president, the Kremlin specified that there will be meetings in «broad and small formats,» and the signing of a strategic agreement is expected, along with other cooperation alliances with Russia.

Ushakov also stated that the document will address «virtually all the key issues on the agenda of bilateral relations.»

The two leaders have not met in person since October 2024, when the BRICS Group held a summit in the Russian city of Kazan.
