President Maduro demands end to persecution of Venezuelans

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, qualified the actions of the governments of the United States and El Salvador against Venezuelan migrants as an «act of cruelty and injustice.»

In a message posted on his Telegram channel, the head of state demanded «an end to the persecution and violation of the human rights» of these people, victims of kidnapping.

Furthermore, in the post, which was accompanied by a video, the president reiterated that the kidnapping of Venezuelans constitutes an «outrageous act» reminiscent of the darkest historical narratives, comparing it to the Nazi persecution of the Jews:

«Venezuelan migrants are not a plague; they are human beings seeking a better life,» he emphasized, while rejecting the humiliation of the «young workers» by the US and Salvadoran governments.

In addition, he criticized the rhetoric of linking Venezuelan migrants to organized crime.

In the video, the head of state recalls that was formed a committee of family members of the kidnapped youth, which began taking legal actions in El Salvador, contacting lawyers and law firms to initiate legal proceedings seeking the release of their loved ones, while the Venezuelan government works in the diplomatic field to resolve the situation.
