National Assembly proposes drafting Organic Law on Youth

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, proposed on Wednesday that the Venezuelan Parliament accompany young people in the drafting of the “José Félix Ribas” Organic Law on Youth.

Rodríguez, who received the thousands of young people who arrived in the vicinity of the AN, after participating in a mobilization through the streets of Caracas on the occasion of “Youth Day” (Feb-12), explained that the regulations, which will be a “law for the future”, will cover the rights of new generations.

In addition, the parliamentarian who received a document with proposals from the youth to complement the aforementioned law, added that the debate will begin this Thursday during the parliamentary session:

In the National Assembly we obey you in all the points of the document that you bring, we owe obedience to the proposals of the young people who deserve attention. It is necessary that the legal body of the Republic take care of and encourage our young people,” he said.

He stressed that “instead of drafting a series of laws that remain a little timid and lose validity, we propose ro draft and develop a great law, together with the elements of the Venezuelan youth, so that they make it their own and discuss it in the cities.”

He also recalled that “211 years ago, the Venezuelan youth filled the Valleys of Aragua with glory and conquered, together with José Félix Ribas, the immense victory that saved the city of Caracas.”

Rodríguez described the young people as “owners of the glories of the battles,” and reiterated their value, mentioning that, “you have resisted together with all our people, you have sustained the strength of our freedom,” he said.
