Venezuelan people commemorated 165 Years of the Battle of Santa Inés

From the historic Libertador Avenue mobilized a march to commemorate the 165 years of the Battle of Santa Inés, they were welcomed in the vicinity of Miraflores Palace by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.

In this emotional celebration, the attendees, which included communes and representatives of the People’s Power, raised their voices in honor of one of the most significant deeds that granted the country’s freedom.

The battle, which took place in 1859, pitted the forces of the revolutionary Ezequiel Zamora against the troops of conservative general Pedro Estanislao Ramos, in what is now known as Barinas state.

This event is considered fundamental for the triumph of federalism during the Venezuelan Civil War.

The participants, including farmers, fishermen, workers and students, expressed their reflections on the relevant event and the march, as well as the agrarian policies promoted by the current Government.

This event not only vindicates a significant chapter in Venezuelan history, but also reaffirms the people’s commitment to defending their rights and their legacy, raising their voice in strong support of sovereignty and the agrarian struggle in the country.

The Battle of Santa Inés continues to be a symbol of inspiration for current generations, in their efforts to build a more just and equitable future.
