The head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB), G/J Domingo Hernandez Larez, reported this Wednesday, January 22, during the deployment of the military exercise “Escudo Bolivariano (Bolivarian Shield) 2025”, that in these maneuvers there are 150,000 men deployed in 290 strategic exercises for the defense of peace and democracy:
“It is a very complete exercise where the 335 municipalities of the country are involved, for this comprehensive defense of the nation. We are using 153 naval means, 250 military vehicles, as well as air means, we have tanks and our artillery,” he said during a conversation with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the framework of the beginning of the maneuvers.
Larez explained that the FANB, in perfect civil-military-police fusion, has all the available resources of the State: “Let us remember that we are a territory of peace, a democratic, free and independent territory.”
“We do not accept interferences from another country. We have the right to self-determination. The Armed Forces in our constitutional mission are prepared for the integral defense of the nation,” he said.
Likewise, the high military officer stressed that these maneuvers are designed to prepare the FANB and the People’s Power to act in the maintenance of internal order, and border control of our entire territory by air, sea and land.
In this sense, he highlighted the connection of the Management Bodies for Integral Defense (ODDI) to improve the reaction capacities in everything related to the protection of our sovereignty and territorial identity.
