Right wing seeks to implement a new scenario of violence in Venezuela

With the words “Hate crimes never again!”, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, alerted Venezuelans about the maneuvers orchestrated by the extreme right wing to implement scenarios of violence, similar to the guarimbas (riots) of 2014 and 2017.

When remembering the murder of young Orlando Figuera, 22 years old, victim of first and second degree burns by a violent mob that accused him of being a Chavista, he pointed out that, precisely, “the radical opposition called for that hatred and it is the hatred that they want to bring back in Venezuela” with the intention “for us to confront each other, to kill each other.”

“They have awakened that hatred, that violence in some sectors, and it is the main bet that the extreme right wing makes in Venezuela,” he noted during the “Con Maduro+” program, broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

In this sense, he reiterated his call to the people to preserve peace, as well as to cultivate love, coexistence and respect in the face of attempts to sow fascism in Venezuela:
“Crimes like that of Orlando Figuera should never be repeated again. Those people cannot return, they cannot return with their fascism, they cannot ever return with their hatred,” he asserted.

The Head of State, on the other hand, took advantage of the occasion to request King Felipe the 6th and the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, to hand over to the Venezuelan authorities those involved in the death of Orlando Figuera so that they can be tried for the crime committed:

“The Attorney General’s Office has requested it multiple times; I ask the Head of Government, the judicial authorities to hand over to Venezuelan justice the fascists who burned Orlando Figuera alive,” he urged.
