Venezuela registers 633 new Covid-19 cases by community transmission and 130 imported

Venezuela has detected in the last 24 hours 633 new cases of Covid-19 infections by community transmission, of which 212 are from Caracas, and 130 are imported infections, for a total of 763 this Sunday.

This was reported by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, in statements held from Miraflores Palace, Caracas, during the meeting with the Presidential Commission for the prevention and combat of Covid-19, in a contact with the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who directed a work journey on health from the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural Center, in Caracas.

The vice president noted that in Caracas alone there are a total of 3,354 active cases, the majority concentrated in the parishes of El Valle, Sucre, Macarao, Altagracia, El Paraíso, “But today Caracas registers new cases in its 22 parishes”, she stressed.

She indicated that today 152 cases are concentrated in Miranda state; in Zulia, 96; in La Guaira, 75; in Bolívar, 25; in Carabobo, 18; in Portuguesa, 13; in Apure, 12; in Táchira, 12; in Anzoátegui, 6; in Trujillo, 6; in Nueva Esparta, 4; in Lara, 1.

Of the 130 imported cases, she specified that 120 are coming from Colombia, a country that already registers 4,322 cases in Venezuela, and another 5 of contagions from abroad are from Ecuador; 4 from Peru and 1 from Chile.

Likewise, he reported that 56% of the country’s cases have already recovered and that the nation currently has 8,628 active cases, also it meant that 59% of the infections are asymptomatic, as a result of the early recruitment of those infected through methods such as house-by-house visits.

Likewise, the vice president commented that 18% of symptomatic cases are mild; 1.36% are moderate and 0.38% are severe in intensive care units.

In addition, the country reaches 164 deceased with five new deaths registered this Sunday, one of them a man from Zulia state, 38 years old, with morbidity; a 76-year-old woman in Miranda state; a 57-year-old man from Falcón state; a 39-year-old man in the Capital District; a 29-year-old man in Sucre state.

Rodríguez confirmed that Venezuela joins the call of the World Health Organization (WHO), especially to youth, to become aware of the dangers of coronavirus, to obey with discipline the sanitary protocols.

In this regard, President Maduro was emphatic in stressing that this week when a new journey of radical quarantine begins in the country, it is very important to stop the growth of coronavirus: “It is the objective this week so that from August 10 we can go to the even, safe 7 + 7 flexibilization throughout the whole country”, he insisted.

“It is time for the union to save the people and the homeland”, exhorted the Head of State.
