The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, this Monday at a press conference revealed evidence that links those involved in the PDVSA-Cripto corruption plot, including Tareck El Aissami, with opposition leaders, including Julio Borges, Carlos Ocariz, Carlos Vecchio and Leopoldo López; also with mention of James Story, who was in charge of the United States Foreign Office for Venezuela in Bogotá. “Samark López was the link between El Aissami, the group he led.”
He explained that this complicity of El Aissami had the purpose of “imploding the national economy, destroying the Bolívar, taking the elevation of the parallel dollar to the nth degree, breaking the economic recovery plan carried out by the Venezuelan state and joining all of this to the political conspiracy.”
Furthermore, he added that the conspiratorial plan they had in motion was to dissolve the State “by any undemocratic means, impose and continue with sanctions.”
“I do not rule out at all that there are other radical factors involved in the political conspiracy plot. Today it is not my place to say those names, but we have records of telephone calls and contacts with Samark López,” he pointed out.
Likewise, he revealed a fragment of the videotaped confession of the detained López, where he offers information about another group of people involved and which was partially omitted to protect his legal reservations.
“Intelligence is a job for professionals, mentally healthy and without vices. They continue to misinform and we continue to report objectively. They have subjected us to a dirty war since 1999, but the people are aware and have realized it,” he concluded.
