President Maduro holds meeting with ICC Attorney General

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting this Monday with the Attorney General of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, who is carrying out a work agenda in the country.

The meeting took place at Miraflores Palace, in Caracas; where different topics of bilateral interest were addressed.

In this visit – the fourth that Khan makes to the country – it is expected that cooperation with the institutions of the Venezuelan State will be strengthened, in addition to visiting some territories to verify the impact of the economic blockade imposed by the United States (US), which threatens the welfare state of the Venezuelan people.

It is worth remembering that last June, Venezuela and the ICC agreed to establish a technical assistance office in the country for legal advice on human rights matters.

This office was one of the points established in theunderstanding memorandum signed by both parties in November 2021.

The prosecutor is expected to hold meetings with other authorities in the country.
