President Nicolás Maduro announces end of tax exemptions

In an action aimed at “promoting internal taxes that serve as the basis for strengthening the new economic model,” the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the end of tax exemptions.

From the Poliedro de Caracas, located in La Rinconada, he pointed out that the measure “will not apply to very urgent issues,” such as health:

I tell everyone who wants to listen: the tax exemptions are over, except for one or two for very urgent health issues. The tax exemptions are over,” he reiterated during a tour of the stands that make up the “Expo Feria 25 años de Patria” (Expo Fair 25 years of Homeland), which will be open to the public until Tuesday, February 6.

The Head of State, who pointed out the need to reinvigorate the tax payment culture, pointed out that those who do not pay taxes will be subject to sanctions:

And whoever does not pay the taxes in full, we will go after him. To pay 100% of the taxes to be able to promote internal taxes that are the strengthening of the new model,” he stated.

On January 15, in the context of the Annual Message to the Nation, the Venezuelan President raised the tax collection goal for 2024 at the equivalent of 10 billion dollars. In this way, the aim is to double the collection figure of the last period, which stood at 5.75 billion dollars.
