The president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, acknowledged that he leads a coalition of nations against the Government of the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, whose legitimacy was again disowned by the US president.
During a speech delivered on Tuesday, he insisted that the United States disowns the legitimate governments of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, elected by the direct vote of the majority of these peoples.
He justified that his Government reversed the diplomatic approach with Cuba initiated by the previous administration of Barack Obama (2009-2017), which he described as a failed policy, despite the fact that, according to surveys, most Americans support the development of better bilateral ties.
These statements were made by Trump during the annual State of the Union address before the two chambers of Congress and guests, the third of his term, where he pointed out that once again his country defends freedom in the Western Hemisphere, not to mention the military raids and the waves of violence that have had the US signature.
