The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the 5th Episode of the “Maduro Podcast” on his YouTube channel, ratified that the indexed comprehensive minimum income mechanism is a war economy mechanism to defend the income of the Venezuelan family
In this sense, he stressed that this system “is correct and fair, because nine months ago I raised the income of public employees to $70 and for the first time in the history of Venezuela and the world, it was indexed. It was risky, but I took a gamble and it turned out well.”
“Now, I brought that integral minimum income to 100 dollars indexed, so that it doesn’t become water and salt for active workers, it is the strategy we have to recover the real minimum income and the global minimum income of the Venezuelan family, that is, if in April 2023 you earned the minimum, which was 15 dollars and on February 1st it reached 100, there was an increase of 666%, this can only be achieved in Venezuela and maintaining a balance,” he said.
At the same time, he highlighted that with this mechanism they also maintain investment in health, education, Bricomiles, the 1×10 system of Good Government, in the Great Mission Housing Venezuela, subsidies in gas, water, gasoline among others, “because we are a humanist and Christian model.”
As for the retirees, he maintained that their income was 12 dollars in April 2023, and was raised to 49 at that time, but now it was increased to 70 dollars indexed, “being a strategy of gradual and sustainable recovery, which does not generate distortions.” He added that from April 2023 to February 2024, the increase is 333%, “all of this comes from effort, work, savings and efficiency.”
Regarding the pensioners, the head of state said that their income was seven dollars in April last year, but for this 2024 it was brought to 25 dollars indexed, that is, it does not lose value, monthly, and through the Patria system’s bonds, they would exceed 30 dollars.
