Venezuela rejects unacceptable US interference in consultative referendum

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the recent statements by the Spokesperson of the Department of State regarding the consultative referendum held on December 3, statements that constitute an unacceptable interference:

The United States, supported by its disastrous Monroe Doctrine, is the architect, together with British imperialism, of the fraud of 1899 and of the recent attempts to strip Venezuela of its historical rights over Guayana Esequiba,” states the document.

It is also affirmed that the US ratifies its contempt for international law and its inability to understand processes in which truly free people exercise democratic participation to decide their fundamental issues.

The statement ends with the firm conviction that the Venezuelan people expressed themselves unequivocally and their revolutionary government will defend democratic expression against any blackmail or interference threat.
