To the medalists of the 19th Pan American Games – Santiago 2023, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, urged them to “bring out their chests, draw out their strength” to register their names in the Paris Olympic Games, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
“You have returned with this tricolor (the Venezuelan flag) shining in victory. The day after tomorrow, as Keydomar Vallenilla says, there is the challenge of Paris 2024: stick out your chest, draw out strength because Venezuela wants to see you all in Paris,” he emphasized from the Sol del Perú Hall of Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.
In this sense, the head of state reiterated the absolute support of the National Government for Venezuelan athletes in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic Route Plan:
“May you count with all the support today, always, from now on for your growth, all the support that can be given and beyond: scientific, professional, technical, material, moral, human support,” he pointed out.
Previously, the Venezuelan president positively valued the participation of the national delegation in the Pan American Games, highlighting that it constitutes “a step forward, an achievement, a happiness” to maintain the pace and achieve greater success in international competitions:
“When you have an achievement, like yours, it is the greatest motivation, the greatest moral strength you can have to continue along the path,” he added, while predicting that “you have only one word in your future: Triumph.”
Venezuela finished in tenth position in the general classification of the XIX Pan American Games, achieving a haul of 44 medals (8 gold, 15 silver and 21 bronze) in 13 disciplines.
