“Lula’s reflection has been wise. I could say that it is a point in favor of Lula. No more, no less,” said President Nicolás Maduro Moros on Monday, commenting on the international news that report the statements by the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who stated that he will not question the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela, in order to prevent other countries from doing the same with the Supreme Court of Brazil:
“I agree with President Lula’s recent statements. Each country has to find a way to resolve its issues. It seems to me that it has been a wise reflection by Lula,” reiterated the Venezuelan head of state, during the “Zona Digital” segment of his weekly “Con Maduro+” program.
The Brazilian president stressed his desire not to fuel confrontation: “I want Venezuela to live well, for the people to be looked after with dignity. I will look after Brazil, Maduro will look after [Venezuela], the Venezuelan people look after Maduro and I look after Brazil,” he said. Along the same lines, he said that his government cannot be focused on confrontations with other countries in the region. The Brazilian president also stressed that they have no right to question the decisions of the supreme courts of other countries, and stated: “I do not want any country to do the same with mine.”
President Maduro welcomed this rectification by his Brazilian counterpart, stating that each country has its own issues and the institutions to resolve them. “I think it is very good, I agree with Lula. Each country resolves its problems. Brazil with its institutions and its sovereign dynamics and Venezuela with its institutions and its sovereign dynamics,” he concluded.
