Will be increased operational capacity of FANB to eradicate illegal mining in the Amazon

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during a meeting with the Expanded Superior General Staff and the REDI and ZODI commanders of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), reported that the operational capacity of the military corps will be increased in the Venezuelan Amazon to eradicate criminal groups dedicated to the practice of illegal mining:

“I have given orders to increase the presence and operational military capacity to clean up our seas, clean up our coasts from criminal groups, criminals,” he said, while describing the actions to combat illegal mining in southern Venezuela were considered a success, for which he stressed that these operations will be permanent to completely free the Amazon from illegal mining.

In this sense, the Head of State pointed out that this way the Bolivarian Government will fulfill the commitment assumed by Venezuela at the 2023 Amazon Summit held in Brazil, to move on to a reforestation process in the Amazon: “Operations throughout the Bolívar state region to recover it, we are going with everything, to free the Bolívar state from illegal gangs”. To get to this achievement, he stressed the importance of the absolute deployment of all the security forces of the Venezuelan State.

Likewise, he referred to the presence of the FANB in the more than 2,300 kilometers of the border with Colombia and commented that the capacity for coordination with the military forces of the New Granada nation must be increased to combat all threats and guarantee the peace and stability of the people in the border regions.

In this order of ideas, the constitutional president maintained that as part of the Bolivarian Military Doctrine founded by Commander Chávez, the operational strategic concept and the new organizational structure of the FANB, between 2022 and 2023, Venezuela has managed to have the greater operational deployment of the military corps in the Amazon: “Combatting threats, armed terrorists, drug traffickers, armed groups that generate violence and extremists.”
