Venezuelan Chancellor arrives in Brazil to participate in the Amazon summit

“With great expectations we arrived in the Brazilian city of Belém do Pará, where the Amazon Summit will be held, resuming cooperation to protect the planet’s vegetal lung,” as announced the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil.

According to a publication on his account on the X (Twitter) network, Gil indicated that the summit called by the president of the South American giant, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will be held from August 8 to 9, and will guarantee a safe Amazon, of peace and of each and every South American.

The Summit seeks for the Amazonian countries (Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela) to consolidate a unified position on the preservation of the biome, to present it at the next world climate summit (COP28), in November.

The summit, which will last until next Wednesday, will be the group’s fourth meeting. Such meetings are provided for in the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (OTCA), signed on July 3, 1978.
