Venezuela participates in FAO Genetic Resources meeting

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela participates in the inauguration of the 19th regular meeting of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which takes place in the city of Rome, from Monday, July 17 to Thursday, July 21.

The information was released through the account on the Twitter social network by the Permanent Representation of Venezuela before the FAO, based in Rome, Italy.

The Venezuelan representation will participate in the special act “Connect the dots”: Biodiversity, food and agriculture at the FAO headquarters”. The delegation is represented by the Presidential Commissioner before the Sovereign Seed and Genetics Vertex of the Great Mission AgroVenezuela, Dr. Margaret Gutiérrez.

The Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture is committed to conserving biodiversity for food and agriculture and promoting its sustainable use for food security and human well-being and development worldwide, for current and future generations.

Biodiversity for food and agriculture constitutes one of the most important resources on Earth. Thousands of species and their genetic variability make up the fabric of life and are essential to adapt to new conditions, including climate change.
