The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, greeted with renewed hope the peace talks between the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN), which resumed yesterday, November 21, 2022, in the city of Caracas, in accordance with the agenda established between the parties in a meeting held on October 4, 2022:
“The negotiating table for peace between the Colombian State, represented by President Gustavo Petro, and the National Liberation Army (ELN) was installed in Caracas, birthplace of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, and from Venezuela we say it with all our People: All the support of the People of Venezuela for these negotiations”, ratified the Head of State.
The National President explained that the dialogue between the (Colombian) Government and the ELN is a message of hope for the region as a territory of peace, as decided by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
In the presence of Colombian students attending the 19th Congress of the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Students (OCLAE), the Venezuelan president congratulated «To the Colombian youth because you are going to have peace.»
“I congratulate the Colombian youth present, because you are going to have peace, youth of Colombia. The time for peace has come, and here is the hand, the working hand, the student, indigenous, peasant hand, the hand of the people of Venezuela to tell to president Petro and to Colombia, count on us for total peace”, he added.
