AN approves Draft Agreement in support of diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela

The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the Draft Agreement in support and restitution of diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela. In this way was ratified what was signed on October 21, 2022 at the “Simón Bolívar” International Bridge.

This was indicated by the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, from the Federal Legislative Palace during the ordinary session, on this occasion the agreement was presented by deputy Julio Chávez:

Here is the birth certificate of a new future between Venezuela and Colombia. Work commissions were installed to deal with situations that affect our borders”, said the highest authority of the Legislative Power.

He recalled that the only action of the Government of Commander Hugo Chávez and his then chancellor, Nicolás Maduro Moros, now president of the Republic, was to reach out for peace and diplomacy between both nations:

It is exciting to see how on that bridge that bears the name of The Liberator of both Homelands, a dangerous chapter was closing, profoundly alien to the true feelings of both nations”, he emphasized.

For his part, parliamentarian Julio Chávez stated that after the spiral of violence promoted by the Colombian oligarchy throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, with the vile assassination of the leader Jorge Eliecer Gaitán, “without a doubt of blood, pain and suffering that was for Father Simón Bolívar”.
