Saab: Rafael Ramírez is requested for 9 corruption plots in the country

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that Rafael Ramírez, with the embezzlement of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) during his tenure as president of the company and Minister of Energy and Petroleum, adds 9 corruption schemes, for which the Venezuelan justice requests an international arrest warrant.

In the statements offered to the country, the prosecutor of the Republic, detailed that “in view of the information and evidence received”, the Public Ministry appointed two national prosecutors, with their respective assistants, to begin the pertinent investigations into the plot of corruption in the oil industry, headed by Rafael Ramírez.

It also reported that Víctor Aular, who was PDVSA’s Vice President of Finance at the time of the events, revealed during interrogations that “Rafael Ramírez summoned him to his office in March 2012 and instructed him to sign the financing, which confirms, in a clear and absolute way, the full responsibility as the intellectual and material author of the fugitive from justice, Rafael Ramírez,” said the attorney general.

After the evidence presented, the Public Ministry issued arrest warrants against Juan Andrés Wallis Brandt, manager of the Atlantis Administrator; Luis Alfonzo Oberto Anselmi and Ignacio Enrique Oberto Anselmi, responsible for the funds abroad; Nervis Villalobos, former Vice Minister of Electric Power and, lastly, Abraham Edgardo Ortega Morales.
