Conviasa strengthens commercial and scientific relations with the inauguration of Caracas – Tehran commercial flight

With the aim of consolidating strategic alliances and favoring interconnection with the Asian giant, this Saturday, June 30, the Venezuelan flag carrier, Conviasa, inaugurated the first direct commercial flight to Tehran.

The trip, which lasts 13 continuous hours, non-stop, departed from the Simón Bolívar International Airport, located in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, to its counterpart in Iranian lands, Imam Khomeini.

The Minister of People’s Power for Transportation and President of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, pointed out that this achievement is possible thanks to the management of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, who in June toured the Middle East where he promised to establish such a route.

Velásquez explained that a weekly flight will be scheduled between Thursday and Friday with return from Monday to Tuesday. This is so that 2,400 passengers can enjoy the connection through the Airbus 340-600.

Additionally, the authority informed that this route will also serve so that, in alliance with Mahan Airlines, passengers can reach Guangzhou, China.

For her part, the Minister of Science and Technology of Venezuela, Gabriela Jiménez, said: “This flight connects our skies and allows the meeting of our peoples, as well as scientific exchange. With it we will be able to promote our multipolar policy for the common welfare”.

Representing the Iranian authorities, the director of the airport, Saeid Chalandari, expressed his welcome to all Venezuelans and emphasized that this journey will further support tourism and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Finally, Velásquez took advantage of the meeting to recall that compliance with the Sanitary Checkup System has returned to the country, which will come into effect on August 1st:

“With this method, passengers will be able to upload their vaccination schedules, as well as the results of the ‘Polymerase Chain Reaction Test’ (PCR), so that they can speed up and facilitate their entry into the nation,” emphasized the Minister.
