Vaccination against Covid 19: Reinforcement phase will begin with health personnel on Monday, January 3

The Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado announced that next Monday, January 3, will start the National Plan for the Reinforcement of Vaccination against Covid-19 with front-line health personnel.

During the presentation of the balance of the vaccination plan headed this Monday by President Nicolás Maduro, Alvarado explained that this phase will cover approximately 70,000 health workers, as well as 500,000 firefighters, Civil Protection personnel and employees who they work in health centers.

He pointed out that the plan will advance progressively, incorporating people over 18 years old who have completed at least six months of having placed the two doses before July 31, or three doses in the case of having received the Cuban Abdala vaccine.

He added that from January 10 will start the vaccination of more than 3 million elder adults and people over 60 years of age, to continue, on January 17, with the population between 19 and 59 years old who present two or more pathologies, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension or HIV, a segment that encompasses around 2 million Venezuelans.

In the final stage, from January 24, the police, national guards and transport and food workers will be vaccinated, a total of 3 million workers, and from February 2022 vaccination journeys will be held for the rest of the population.

Minister Alvarado emphasized that the country currently has 6 million Russian Sputnik Light vaccines and that in January 2022 will arrive in Venezuela 12 million Chinese Sinopharm vaccines.

Alvarado ratified that in the second quarter of 2022 will begin the production of Abdala vaccines in the country, in agreement with Cuba.
