Venezuela received 500,000 new doses of Sputnik V

500,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Venezuela this Saturday, June 12, 2021.

The shipment comes from the Russian Federation and forms part of the Russia-Venezuela cooperation agreements to fight Covid-19.

Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, Russian ambassador to Venezuela, said he was happy to receive this new batch of vaccines, precisely on Russia Day, because this is how he celebrates fraternity and solidarity in health matters with Venezuela.

Carlos Alvarado, Minister of People’s Power for Health, congratulated the Russian people and government on their day, thanked the support and reported that, with this new batch of vaccines, Venezuela has covered 13 percent of the vaccination goal.

“Thanks to the brotherhood between Russia and Venezuela, we have managed to overcome the effects of the blockade, not only with vaccines but also with supplies and medicines,” explained Dr. Alvarado.

New Russian vaccines such as EpiVacCorona and Sputnik Light will soon arrive in Venezuela.
