President Maduro ordered to multiply mass vaccination centers in the country by 10

President Nicolas Maduro instructed this Sunday to multiply by 10 the number of immunization centers and the effort in general activated in the framework of the mass vaccination plan “In order to have a profound impact on the health of the population and advance the vaccination program throughout the country”.

This was announced by the Head of State during the Sunday presentation of the weekly balance of the Presidential Commission for the Fight, Prevention and Control against Covid 19.

In his speech, commenting on the arrival of a new batch of 500,000 Sputnik V vaccines from Russia, the President reiterated his confidence that “by complying with the schedule for the arrival of the vaccines, we will be able to accelerate the process of mass immunization”.

President Maduro explained that the arrival of these 500,000 new doses of Russian Sputnik V vaccines against Covid-19 is the seventh delivery of supplies from the Russian Federation to Venezuela.

In this regard, he emphasized the need to multiply the vaccination capacities, as the commitments acquired in the country through the vaccines from China, Russia and through the COVAX device are arriving.

Regarding this last aspect, he reiterated that Venezuela has already paid the money for the COVAX vaccines: “Recovering the money from accounts that had been stolen from us, with a lot of intelligence and skill, thanks to the institutional intelligence of the BCV and deposited to COVAX, in a sovereign manner”.

He added that COVAX “has promised us more than 5 million doses of vaccines for July, so we are waiting for the schedule to be fulfilled”, he said.

Senior Adults:

Upon receiving this batch of 500,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine Vice President Delcy Rodriguez explained that the same will be incorporated into the mass vaccination plan for seniors over 60 years old with two or more diseases:

“These vaccines are incorporated to the second phase of vaccination deployed over the weekend at national level and are incorporated for adults over 60 years of age with two or more diseases”, she said in a VTV broadcast.

For his part, the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, emphasized that production will be progressively increased to meet the requirements and maintain the support to the Venezuelan people.
