President Maduro met with Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed this Tuesday at Miraflores Palace to the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Steven Seagal, who gifted the head of state with a samurai sword, as a symbol of leadership.

Seagal was appointed in 2018 as a special envoy of the Russian Chancellory for his valuable experience in building bridges in order to strengthen cultural ties between his native country, the United States of America, and Russia.

In the fulfillment of these functions, he consolidated agreements between both nations in the humanitarian and cultural sphere, mainly oriented to the promotion of artistic, sports and youth programs.

This high-level meeting held in Caracas is part of the Bolivarian peace diplomacy promoted by the National Executive with political leaders, governments, organizations, Social Movements and individuals on fundamental issues for the consolidation of multilateralism and cooperation between peoples and nations.

Steven Seagal was born on April 10, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, to a Jewish father and a mother of Irish descent. In his youth she moved with his family to Fullerton, California, where he began to study martial arts under the leading teacher, Fumio Demura, and aikido with Rod Kobayashi.

He is widely acknowledged worldwide for his work in the film industry since the late 1980s with films such as “Above the Law” (1988), “Hard to Kill” (1990), “Under Siege” (1992) ; “On Deadly Ground (1994)”; “End of a Gun” (2016) and his most recent works, “The Perfect Weapon” (2016); “Code of Honor” (2016), “Cartels” (2017), “General Commander” (2019) and “Beyond the Law” (2019).

Personally, he has also developed a career as a policeman, graduating as a police officer from the California State Academy where he obtained the certificate that accredits him as an officer, which has allowed him to work as Deputy Chief of the Volunteer Division of the Sheriff’s Office of Jefferson Parish in Louisiana.
