Venezuela and Iran strengthen ties of brotherhood in energy matters

The Minister of People’s Power of Petroleum and president of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), Manuel Quevedo, held a work journey with Mohammad Keshavarz, advisor to the Foreign Minister of Iran and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mustafá Alaleí, with the purpose of strengthening relations of energy cooperation.

In this sense, the holder of the hydrocarbon portfolio of Venezuela, highlighted the role of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez to boost bilateral relations in energy between the two countries. Cooperation ties that the worker president Nicolás Maduro continues.

He also described these meetings as opportunities to strengthen ties of brotherhood between both countries and to strengthen the capacity of oil production.

It is noteworthy that Venezuela and Iran, founding members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), have made joint efforts in order to achieve the stabilization of the oil market, within the framework of the OPEC + Declaration signed in Vienna, in December 2016 .

Thanks to the pluri-polar vision of the Supreme Commander, Hugo Chávez, Venezuela and Iran have strengthened bilateral relations in the last 19 years in different areas of cooperation: energy, science, technology, economy, agriculture, industry, infrastructure, housing and health.
