Minister Ñáñez highlights the work of the communication battalion facing media war in pandemic

This Tuesday, the sectoral vice president of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, highlighted that currently in the world, a war of symbols is signing communication, however, in Venezuela “a communication battalion has faced the media war and the Fake News amidst an adverse context due to the Covid-19 pandemic”.

This was announced during his interpellation before the Plenary of the National Assembly (AN), he specified that the Venezuelan State “despite the attempts of some governments to misrepresent the truth of Venezuela’s fight against Covid-19 and the management of the pandemic, every Venezuelan has been informed in a timely manner in the midst of the worst difficulties”.

Likewise, Ñáñez stressed that 2020 was “the year of sabotage, of betrayals, but we continue in the vanguard for the people to fight the informational battle. We will be at the forefront to inform in a timely and truthful manner, it was a difficult year for the communication area, it has already been a year since the loss of the Simón Bolívar Satellite which was a contact line with the people to bring information and entertainment in an effective manner”.

Finally, he highlighted that communication ceased to be a technical concept and became an eminently social concept, giving it a characteristic of Law, not only to the exercise of freedom of expression, but also to the responsibility that entails the individual and collective exercise of communication.
