COVID: Venezuela registers 294 infections and a recovery rate of 95% this Sunday

A total of 294 infections of Covid-19 were registered in the last 24 hours in Venezuela, of which 286 are of community transmission and 8 cases are imported, to raise the total number of infections to 110,075, while the rate of recovered is at 95% of the total of cases, representing 104,462 people recovered thanks to the free treatments guaranteed by the Bolivarian Government.

This was reported this Sunday by the Minister of People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, during a work journey of the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of Covid-19.

Regarding the cases of community transmission, Alvarado explained that they are geographically distributed as follows:

Zulia: 100

Yaracuy: 61

Táchira: 49

Miranda: 16

Capital District: 15

La Guaira: 10

Monagas: 1st

Trujillo: 7

Lara: 5

Barinas: 5

Carabobo: 4

Anzoátegui: 2

Apure: 1

Cojedes: 1

Likewise, the minister specified that, of the eight imported cases, four came from the Dominican Republic, two from Turkey and two from Panama.

Likewise, he highlighted that up to date 4,625 cases are active, of which 94% are asymptomatic, 5% are moderate patients and 1% are in serious condition. Of these, a total of 3,902 are treated in the Public Health System and 17 in private clinics.

He also regretted that in the last 24 hours there were 4 deaths from this virus: a 67-year-old man and a 70-year-old man from Táchira state, a 75-year-old woman from Bolívar state and a 75-year-old man from Yaracuy state, to arrive to the figure of 988 deceased, which is equivalent to a fatality rate of 0.9%

Behavior of Covid-19 in the last week:

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, assured that the behavior of the virus had maintained a rate in December of 13 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, however, last week 12 cases were registered per 100,000 inhabitants, while, this week there was an increase in the plateau to 14 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which represents two points of elevation for what he called to the conscience of the people.

In this sense, Rodríguez added that there are federal entities that have been experiencing sustained growth in cases for almost six weeks, so the authorities are asking for greater reflection and compliance with biosafety measures.

In this way, he specified that this week three states registered decreases in cases: Amazonas, Mérida and Táchira, while seven entities registered growth: District. Capital, Carabobo, Cojedes, Falcón, La Guaira, Yaracuy and La Guaira.

Finally, the Executive Vice President warned that “We are in time to prevent Venezuela from having a rebound in the coming weeks.”
