The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, affirmed that she feels deep satisfaction for the discipline of the Venezuelan people, of taking care of themselves in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic that the world is facing, and thanked the awareness the people took and continues to take.
She recalled that by the time the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Coronavirus a pandemic, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, had already studied the situation and decided to go ahead taking into account what had happened in China,. that is why the State of Alarm decree was issued in the country.
In an exclusive interview that he gave to the program “Aqui con Ernesto” (Here with Ernesto), led by the journalist and Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, the also head of the Presidential Commission for the Supervision and Control of COVID-19 pointed out that although this virus was an unknown disease during all this time, the world is already facing the stage of vaccines in order to continue this arduous battle.
“There are already in the world vaccine candidates in full phase three of the clinical trial, currently Venezuela is participating in the test of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which without a doubt will mark a milestone in history”, she said.
Rodríguez explained that “at the beginning of the year we did not imagine that this would happen and that it would last so long, nor the impact it would have on the economy and on people’s psychological lives, and that we have had to modify our lifestyle, however, I thank the Venezuelan people for their degree of awareness and compliance with the biosafety measures implemented by the WHO and the Head of State”.
She added that there are people who live in other countries and have been surprised by the use of masks and the healthy distancing that takes place in the country: “We see how the quarantine has been somewhat flexibilized and the people immediately abides by the standards and prevention and care measures”.
Venezuela decided to take care of itself and despite the fact that we are in a flexibility scheme with the 7 + 7 formula, which has been a 100% successful Venezuelan measure, which was studied from the experience of other countries, the formula has yielded positive results.
