Venezuela congratulates the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on the 52nd anniversary of its independence

This Monday, through a message on his account on the Twitter social network @jaarreaza, the Chancellor and Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza,on behalf of Venezuela congratulated Equatorial Guinea on the 52nd anniversary of its independence.

The independence of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea was proclaimed on October 12, 1968, during the eleventh Government of Francisco Franco, as part of the decolonization process of Africa supported by the United Nations.

In November 1965, the 4th Commission of the Assembly of the United Nations (UN) approved a draft resolution in which it asked Spain to set the date for the independence of Equatorial Guinea. After the victory of the “Yes” by referendum, a democratic autonomous government was formed.

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea has established ties of cooperation and friendship with Venezuela that have contributed to the well-being of both nations, emphasizing the continuation of work in strategic sectors such as: gas, electricity, education, among others.
