COVID: Venezuela registers 791 new cases and totals 67,216 recovered

A total of 772 cases of community transmission of COVID-19 and 19 imported were detected in the last 24 hours by the Venezuelan health authorities, raising the total number of infections to 76,820, of which 67,216 have been successfully recovered, which is equivalent to 87 percent of cases.

The information was released this Friday by the Minister for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, at the end of the daily meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of COVID-19.

Regarding the cases of community transmission, he explained that they focused on:

Carabobo: 177 new cases, in 11 of the 14 municipalities, concentrating 62 in Valencia, 24 in Carlos Arvelo, 21 in Puerto Cabello, among others.

Capital District: 141 new cases in the 22 capital parishes, concentrating the largest number of cases in: El Valle with 32, Sucre (Catia) with 20, Caricuao with 7, among others.

Other states:

Miranda: 115 new cases.

Aragua: 82 new cases.

Zulia: 35 new cases.

Nueva Esparta: 34 new cases.

Táchira: 29 new cases.

Trujillo: 27 new cases.

Sucre: 26 new cases.

La Guaira: 26 new cases.

Amazonas: 19 new cases.

Merida: 15 new cases.

Bolívar: 12 new cases.

Yaracuy: 10 new cases.

Lara: 9 new cases.

Barinas: 5 new cases.

Anzoátegui: 5 new cases.

Portuguesa: 5 new cases.

Meanwhile, regarding the imported cases, he explained that all came from Colombia. He assured that up to date 9,066 nationals have arrived infected with COVID-19, of which 7,958 have arrived from Colombia, which is equivalent to 88% of these imported cases, 615 have arrived from Brazil, 220 from Peru, 194 from Ecuador and 79 from other nations.

Until this Friday there are 8,961 active cases, of which 6,384 are in hospitals, 2,265 are in Integral Diagnosis Centers (CDI) and 312 in private clinics.

Regarding the current condition of active patients, he added that 4,719 are asymptomatic, 2,826 have mild acute respiratory failure, 1,201 have moderate acute respiratory failure, while 215 are admitted to intensive care units for presenting a serious condition.

On the other hand, Ñáñez regretted reporting the death of eight people from the COVID-19 infection in the last hours, to raise the number of fatalities to 643.

The deaths were: two men aged 72 and 66 and a woman aged 51 from Amazonas state; a 57-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman from Zulia, a 66-year-old man from Nueva Esparta and two 67 and 46-year-old men from Apure state.

He also assured that until this Friday in the country 1,957,439 diagnostic tests for COVID-19 have been applied, which is equivalent to 65,248 tests per million inhabitants.
