Venezuela confirms 860 new coronavirus infections

In the last 24 hours, 757 community cases and 103 imported were detected, for a total of 860 new Covid-19 infections throughout the national territory, as reported this Monday the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.

She highlighted that, in terms of community cases, the Capital District continues being the one with the highest number of cases, with 258.

The spokeswoman for the Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 assured that the virus circulates through the 22 parishes of the capital city, having a greater number of new infections in the El Valle parish with 25 infected people, Caricuao, Catia and San Juan with 21 cases each.

Delcy Rodríguez explained, regarding the imported cases, that 86 came from Colombia, 8 from Ecuador, 6 from Peru and 3 from Brazil.

Likewise, the vice president regretted the death of five Venezuelans “who lost their lives because of Covid-19; these are 3 women 68, 71 and 77 years old, inhabitants of Apure state, 1 woman, 83 years old from Táchira state, and a 67-year-old man in Zulia”.

She asserted that up to date have been confirmed 46,728 people infected by coronavirus in the country, of which 8,230 are active cases, 38,112 have recovered, which represents 82% of the total population.

The vice president indicated that 1,869 patients are being treated in Sentinel Hospitals, 6,170 are in Integral Diagnostic Centers and 191 people are in Private Clinics. Regarding deaths, she reported that the figure is 386 deaths.

She assured that the doctors and brigaders continue to be deployed in the house-by-house procedure “to detect the virus on an early stage, being important to mention that to date 1,766,576 tests have been carried out in the country”, which represents 58,886 tests per million inhabitants, wrote Rodríguez.

The authority stated that, in the country, the Venezuelan formula of 7 + 7 is being met: “Today we began a new week of radical quarantine. The conscience of our people has been the main weapon to fight this highly contagious virus, so we must maintain biosecurity measures”, concluded the vice president of Venezuela.
