Venezuela rejects US sanctions against people of Zimbabwe

The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, spoke in favor of the people of Zimbabwe, following the economic policies issued by the United States against the diplomatic personnel and government authorities of the African nation.

Arreaza said on his Twitter profile that “from Venezuela we reject, as illegal, arbitrary and inhumane, the Unilateral Coercive Measures (threats) that Washington imposes on the people of Zimbabwe at the height of the pandemic. We express our solidarity with their people and government, confident that their dignity will not be surrendered.

In March of this year, the government of U.S. President Donald Trump extended for 12 months the coercive measures against the African country, imposed since 2003 because Zimbabwe poses “an extraordinary threat to the U.S. foreign policy”.
