This Friday Poliedro de Caracas will be activated for Covid-19 patients

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, indicated that this Friday will be activated the Poliedro de Caracas (Caracas Polyhedron) as a center of care for patients positive for Covid-19 coronavirus.

The Venezuelan head of state asserted that the facilities of the Poliedro de Caracas will have a capacity to serve 900 people; however, he indicated that the goal of 1,200 beds should be reached to attend to patients who are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms of the virus:

“Serious cases will continue to be taken care of at the Integral Diagnosis Centers”, explained the president.

He added that the organization works for the activation of this sanitary space are carried out together with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

The head of state stressed that in order to guarantee the health of the Venezuelan people, he has approved the authorization of all vertical gyms in the country to receive positive patients for the virus.

Spaces for attention of COVID-19:

The mayor of the Libertador municipality of Caracas, Erika Farias, reported on the operation of the network of hotels in the capital city for the care and isolation of patients affected by COVID-19.

Farias said that 66 hotels are active, of which 11 are sanitary. To date, 800 patients are housed in these spaces, while 45 are set for the social isolation of suspected cases of the infection, and 10 are working to receive inbound compatriots.

Until this Thursday, Venezuela registers a total of 17,158 infected people since the first cases were reported last March, of which 10,421 cases (61%) have been recovered and 6,583 are still active.
