Venezuela assumes presidency of the Ministerial Meeting of FGEC for 2019

In the framework of the XX Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FGEC), held this Wednesday, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela received the presidency of the Ministerial Meeting of the FGEC for 2019, a decision that was announced during the celebration of this meeting, held in Trinidad and Tobago.

Likewise, the alternate presidency of the Ministerial Meeting will be in charge of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. During his speech, the Minister of People’s Power of Petroleum, president of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), and president of the Ministerial Meeting of FGEC, Manuel Quevedo, highlighted the importance given to the energy issue by Venezuela, and the development of the peoples through these resources.

“From our country we see our energy resources as the engine of development of the peoples of the world, socioeconomic development. We proclaim the vision of impulse of the people, always placing the human being as the central axis “.

In this order of ideas, the holder of the Venezuelan oil portfolio highlighted the values of integration and cooperation as relevant aspects that must be reaffirmed and proclaimed by this body.

Minister Quevedo called on the members of the Forum to strengthen and establish adequate policies in the gas field, and to evaluate the behavior of this market on a global scale.

Franklin Khan, President of the Ministerial Meeting, addressed the ministers present, emphasizing that the Caribbean area is becoming a major producer of gas and oil.

“The energy scenario has changed. The Caribbean is becoming an exporter of energy. I hope that this meeting between gas producing countries will be a productive and fruitful exchange of ideas “.

For his part, Yury Sentyurin, General Secretary of the FGEC, explained that “The agreement between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago is a brilliant alliance between both countries. The Forum of Gas Exporting Countries has a beneficial future. ”

During the meeting he was also presenting the management report of the Board of Directors of 2018 by its president, and the management report of the year 2018 of the Secretariat by its highest authority. Likewise, the entry of Angola as observer member of this Organization and the 5-year Work Plan of the FGEC was approved.

The next Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries will be held in Venezuela in October, in compliance with the competences of our country as President of the Ministerial Meeting.
