United Kingdom violates human rights of Venezuelans by pretending to steal their gold during pandemic

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, denounced the violation of Human Rights by the United Kingdom, by pretending to steal the gold from Venezuelans, during the Covid-19 pandemic:

“The United Kingdom has been Washington’s most submissive disciple in the aggression against Venezuela. It supported the illegal coup strategy, created a secret Office for the Transition in Venezuela, and violates human rights by pretending to steal gold from Venezuelans amidst a pandemic”, wrote the Foreign Minister in his account on the Twitter social network.

In the publication, Minister Arreaza quoted a message posted on Twitter by the UK’s foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, who threatens new coercive measures that will join those of the European Union (EU), which on Monday sanctioned the board of directors of the National Assembly (AN) and other Venezuelan officials.

“These new sanctions, which the United Kingdom will also adopt, will show that human rights violations and contempt for democracy in Venezuela will not be tolerated. We will continue to work with European partners and in our own independent sanctions regime to defend our values”, pointed out Raab.

The recent EU sanctions were applied to Luis Parra, president of the AN; Franklyn Duarte, first vice president of the Legislative Branch and José Gregorio Noriega, second vice president of the public body.

Likewise, are sanctioned the Comptroller General of the Republic and President of the Republican Moral Council, Elvis Amoroso; and the leaders Jorge Márquez, Juan José Mendoza, Farik Mora, Dinorah Bustamante, José Adelino Ornelas, Tania Díaz and Gladys Requena.

The EU’s position is in addition to the aggressions and coercive measures imposed by the United States government last January, when the North American nation unilaterally decided to sanction the deputies who voted against Guaidó, to form a new Board of Directors.
