Minister Arreaza begins official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, arrived on Sunday in Tehran, capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where on a three-day official visit he will hold high-level meetings with authorities of the Persian government, within the framework of the relations of solidarity and cooperation maintained by both nations.

Venezuela and Iran have maintained diplomatic relations since the 60s of the last century, substantially strengthening the ties of brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation during the Bolivarian Revolution, through the impulse given by Commander Hugo Chávez, and consolidated by President Nicolás Maduro Moros.

At various international events, Chancellor Arreaza has held bilateral meetings with high authorities of this country in the Persian Gulf. At the end of September 2018, during the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN), he met with Iranian President Hassan Rohaní and on April 24 of last year, also at the UN, to purpose of the first celebration of the «International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace», he held conversations with his counterpart, Javad Zarif.

Brotherhood and solidarity relations between Iran and Venezuela are strengthened through strong strategic alliances in agro-industrial and energy matters, in addition to the fact that both nations integrate the Non-Aligned Countries Movement and its peoples are victims of unilateral coercive measures imposed by the government of the U.S.
