Venezuela stands in solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Colombia


The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is in solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Colombia for the murders of aboriginal leaders and communities that have been reported by international media in recent days.
The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, urged the International community to pronounce against “the serious consequences of the violence that has been reinstated in Colombia and the permanent violations of Human Rights”:
“We continue to call on the International Community for attention on the serious consequences of the violence that has been reinstated in Colombia and the permanent violations of Human Rights. Our acknowledgement and solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Colombia. https://twitter.com/GustavoBolivar ”.
At least four members of the Indigenous Guard and an indigenous governor, Cristina Bautista, have been killed on September 29 in an armed attack in the municipality of Toribió, in the department of Cauca, in Colombia. Six other people were injured, says the Telesur website.
A statement from the Association of Indigenous Councils of Toribío, Tacueyo and San Francisco “Project Nasa” explained that “the indigenous guard was carrying out territorial control work in the La Luz sector of the Tacueyó shelter, when a black vehicle arrives with members of the Dagoberto Ramos column who, in disrespect for the indigenous guard and his legitimate exercise, fired mercilessly, ending the life of the Neehwesx Cristina Bautista, and 4 other communeers and wounding at least 6 other companions”.
The Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC) explained that the indigenous authorities were ambushed in the village of La Luz and the vehicles in which they were transported were thrown into the void.
