Venezuela denounces the criminal impact generated by US sanctions against PDVSA

The Chancellory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela issued an Official Statement denouncing to the international community the impact that the Venezuelan population has generated on the sanctions imposed on PDVSA, which prevent the fulfillment of humanitarian assistance in health programs.
Full Communiqué:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces to the international community the criminal impact generated by the sanctions imposed on the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela, SA, PDVSA, which prevents compliance with its humanitarian assistance programs for health cases of particular difficulty for the Venezuelan population.
As part of its good practices in matters of social responsibility and its commitment to the integral development of the country, PDVSA has executed different social programs to meet the needs of its workers and the Venezuelan people, with special emphasis on the implementation of agreements in the health area.
Currently, health agreements executed by PDVSA benefit hundreds of patients undergoing treatment in health centers abroad and more than 500,000 patients nationwide, through the care of chronic diseases, such as HIV, cancer, Parkinson’s syndrome, epilepsy, as well as funding for surgeries and treatments associated with pancreas transplants, liver transplants and bone marrow transplants.
With the recent measures taken to toughen the illegal blockade against PDVSA, Venezuelan patients who have traveled to receive treatment in different countries have become extremely vulnerable. At this very moment, are being taken care of in the Italian Republic the lives of 25 patients, most of them children, who are waiting to receive bone marrow transplants, whose recovery is in serious risk, as a consequence of the illegal blockade of the funds for the payment of treatments, medical services and maintenance during their stay abroad.
This kind of sanctions, promoted by Venezuelan political actors and dictated by the government of the United States, constitute a flagrant violation of the Human Rights of the affected patients, and its effects are diametrically opposed to those that proclaim under the false flag of humanitarian aid.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela continues to make efforts to make effective the necessary resources for medical treatment abroad, without success so far, which is why it denounces to the world the nefarious social effects of the imperialist policy of aggression against Venezuela, and it aspires that the international community act in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations to neutralize the cruelty of the imperialist and inhuman decisions of the Donald Trump government”.
