The Union of South American Nations (Unasur) published on Sunday through its website, a statement rejecting the extension of the term of Obama’s executive order in which is asserted that Venezuela is an «unusual threat» to the US security.
The General Secretariat of that body issued the document of rejection because, just as pointed out by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Union on March 14, 2015, «… It constitutes an interventionist threat to the sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other States. »
Following, the full text of the communiqué:
The General Secretariat of the Union of South American Nations, rejects the decision to extend for one year the term of the Executive Decree of the Government of the United States of America, adopted on March 9, 2015 regarding Venezuela, because, as pointed out by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Union on March 14, 2015, «… It constitutes an interventionist threat to sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other States.»
Said measure also disowns the reaffirmation of the democratic institutionality of Venezuela, produced in the election of the Legislative Assembly last December 6, 2015, just as could verify the Electoral Mission of UNASUR, which accompanied these elections.
Consequently, UNASUR reiterates the call it has been making for the establishment of an institutional dialogue in Venezuela that allows all Venezuelan men and women to reconcile and overcome their differences without any kind of foreign intervention or pressure.
