On the occasion of commemorating the 18th anniversary of the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and Venezuela, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting with the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro.
The fraternal meeting is once again a show of the bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist with The Island, which were initiated by Commanders Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Chávez Frías.
It was on October 30, 2000, when then presidents of Venezuela, Chávez; and of Cuba, Castro, signed the Cooperation Agreement in order to carry out joint programs aimed at the social, economic, educational, sports and cultural development of both nations.
This agreement highlights the Mission Barrio Adentro, created in 2003 for Venezuelans to have a public health service, and Mission Robinson, in the educational field, flagship programs that reached historically excluded social sectors.
