Citing Article 5 of the Electoral Processes Law, the Chief of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb), Remigio Ceballos, pointed out that “The FANB is responsible for the guarantee of voting, protecting voters and protection of electoral material”.

From the deployment of the Republic Plan, on Monday, more than 260,000 personnel from the Bolivarian National Forces and officials from the regional, municipal and national police forces, Civil Protection, the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), and the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (Cicpc) are working in total coordination for the maintenance of internal order in the face of the elections on Sunday, October 15.

In compliance with the tasks assigned to him, he indicated that the Republic Plan is in permanent protection of the regional headquarters of the National Electoral Council (CNE), voting centers, power plants and strategic facilities in order to guarantee the normal development of the electoral process .

In this regard, during an interview on the Venevisión private TV station, he stressed that any person who attempts to sabotage these spaces, established as security zones, will be severely punished according to the Venezuelan law.

Ceballos emphasized when noting that the “FANB has absolutely nothing to do with the internal processes of the CNE”, regarding the subject of audits and opening of tables, on the contrary, their work refers to the protection of citizens and the custody of centers and electoral material.

On the other hand, he clarified that, in parallel to these tasks, they remain in permanent monitoring of general command posts and situational rooms, to evaluate the development of all events at the national level and to identify possible threats.
