“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in relation to the testimonial elements presented by the Minister of Communication and Information Jorge Rodríguez, according to which officials from the embassies of Colombia, Chile and Mexico allegedly lent or would have been willing to provide assistance to Venezuelan citizens who participated in terrorist acts to attempt against the life of high personalities of the Venezuelan government, including the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro himself, states the following:

The testimonies presented by Minister Jorge Rodríguez are the result of a rigorous investigation and were carried out by several of the detainees involved in the assassination in degree of frustration perpetrated on August 4, 2018.

The tone and arguments used by the governments of Colombia, Chile and Mexico call attention to the fact that instead of clarifying the circumstances reported by the confessed terrorists, by involving the diplomatic agents of their respective countries with their flight plans, they tend to Contrary to victimizing and responding with harsh expressions, out of any diplomatic moderation.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela expected the coherent and transparent international collaboration of these countries in order to conduct the necessary investigations of their institutions on the evidence gathered from these testimonies, in order to clarify the facts.

The reaction of a denial a priori, observed by the governments of Colombia, Chile and Mexico seems more like a flight forward, whose elementary analysis leads to prefigure total disinterest towards any objective investigation with the purpose of hiding links and responsibilities.

Hurried reactions like those of the governments of Chile and Mexico, without a doubt lend themselves so that the Venezuelan extreme right wing, capable of putting national peace at risk through the planning and execution of terrorist acts, feels protected and safeguarded by governments of the region to continue moving through the path of violence and death.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela will continue to objectively investigate the very serious events that occurred on August 4, 2018, and will continue to present to the national and international public opinion the definitive results that it throws.”
