Petro will function as a trade exchange currency in the country

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Thursday that on October 1, Petro enters as an international currency.

“October 1st, the Petro goes to the streets to work as a currency of purchase and a convertible currency. A digital currency of Venezuela for the world”, he said during a work meeting with the economic team held at Miraflores Palace.

He indicated that in the coming days the National Executive will explain the operating mechanisms of “start-up and definitive installation, the phases of development and deployment of Petro towards the future”.

“The Petro will generate great balances, benefits and will support the expansion of investment and the growth of the Venezuelan real economy”, he said.
